WOLF ALICE // Yuk Foo [single]

Wolf Alice are that one band that shimmer above the rest, effortlessly delivering iconic and pivotal tunes whilst blazing a path for a future of indispensable British indie bands. Despite their relative silence throughout 2016, Wolf Alice are louder than ever; their debut My Love is Cool soundtracks day-to-day life as if it’s a staple of adolescence, and their new single ‘Yuk Foo’ bites back with intoxicating rebellion and gloriously empowering fury.

“We wanted to make it open to interpretation, so that anyone who was frustrated at something could have it as their anthem,” says vocalist Ellie Rowsell, divulging that the track is inspired by “being sick and fed up of certain expectations”. Opening with sweltering guitar feedback and that signature Wolf Alice bass pulsating through in possessive palpitations, ‘Yuk Foo’ certainly blisters with venomous defiance.

The single is the first taste of Wolf Alice’s highly anticipated second album Visions of a Life, arriving in September along with a massive and truly unmissable UK tour. “Fuck all the people near me / fuck all my friends and the people in the street / because you bore me, yeah you bore me to death” spits Rowsell with unapologetic resent, bringing Wolf Alice’s capacity for brilliantly scrappy punk to the surface. With tunes as raging as this, mosh pits at their upcoming tour are going to be killers.

The tour will be the London four-piece’s biggest UK/European tour so far, with their date at London’s iconic Alexandra Palace being their biggest headline show to date. In other words, it is simply unmissable.
